The Edinburgh suburban line runs from Haymarket West Junction to Niddrie West Junction via Craiglockart Junction where the line from Slateford joins, Morningside, Newington, Cameron Toll, Duddingston and Niddrie. It is primarily a freight line linking Millerhill directly to Haymarket and Slateford meaning freight avoids the busy Edinburgh to Haymarket lines in the city centre.
