- Dunblane P.2 Extension
- Description:
- Dunblane P.2 Extension works progress as of 30.03.23. This is part of the 'Dunblane Project' where a cross over will be inserted to the south of the station to start trains directly from P.3 (possibly from this side of the island platform as well?) onto the Up Main towards Stirling. Currently all terminating P.2/3 trains have to pull forward above the Signalbox, driver changes ends internally and then the train is signalled to cross over to drop into P.1 to commence its next service (use the full size function arrow to see the existing crossover track layout). This is using up capacity and accentuates any delays of a terminating train turning into a starting service. The new platform lengths will accommodate 8-car Class 385 EMUs. Notice also just beyond the new platform end, the remnants of the foundations for the original footbridge over the Callander & Oban Branch line. The other side of the footbridge landed just inside the wall of where Tesco is now.
