Photo Title:: Vintage Wirral
Description:: Class 503 unit at Birkenhead Park in April 79 on a West Kirby to Liverpool Central service. These units were built in 1939, a second batch to the same design coming along in the 1950s and were replaced by the Class 507s, the third rail equivalent roughly of the 314 during the 1980s. A 507 car replaced one of 314203s after the Newton Collision. Can't remember if any of the 503s were preserved. One was painted in LMS livery near the end of their days.
