Preserved Diesel-hydraulic loco D1015 'Western Champion' made two visits to Scotland on railtours in the 2000s.
- First visit was on Saturday 3 May 2008, D1015 worked 'The Western Scot' tour from Thame Bridge to Edinburgh
- The northbound train, 1Z52 was routed via Hexham, Newcastle and Berwick-upon-Tweed.
- The Southbound return, 1Z53 ran via Linlithgow, Cumbernauld, Motherwell and Beattock.
- Second visit of D1015 was in June 2009, on 'The Western Chieftain tour.
- Friday 19th June 2009, 1Z52 Bristol Temple Meads to Inverness (from Bescot) via Beattock, Holytown, Cumbernauld, Stirling, Perth, Aviemore.
- Saturday 20th June 2009, 1Z52/1Z53 Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh and return
- Sunday 21st June 2009, 1Z54 Inverness to Bristol Temple Meads via Aviemore, Perth, Ladybank, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Niddrie West Jn, Beattock, Carlisle (with loco change at Birmingham New St).
