Glasgow CrossRail
Welcome to scot-rail.co.uk, Scotland's online railway community. The group is for any rail enthusiast interested in the railways and trains of Scotland. It not only consists of the wiki that you're reading now, but a busy online forum and mailing list, which was accessible to registered users. From April 2024 the forum has closed, with a replacement started on Groups.io.

The Glasgow Crossrail scheme would join south-west Scotland with the rest of the country, by constructing the missing link across Glasgow. It would open a huge range of possible new rail connections across Scotland by integrating the network and providing faster journey times. Crossrail would also improve local Glasgow conurbation rail links and support economic regeneration in some of city's poorest areas
The project would comprise of laying 1890 metres of new double track at High Street, reinstating the Strathbungo link and building new sidings at Kelvinhaugh. Some 3,550 metres of the City Union line from West Street to High Street junction and between Muirhouse and Langside junctions would be renewed and upgraded. The renewal of the City Union Line would allow a new station to connect with Glasgow’s Subway system at West Street which would become an interchange station.
Two other new stations could be built at Glasgow Cross and Gorbals. The existing High Street station will be relocated east of its current site and completely renovated. An option within the project would be the transformation of the A-listed Mercat building at Glasgow Cross into a new city centre station.
