Class 108

Welcome to scot-rail.co.uk, Scotland's online railway community. The group is for any rail enthusiast interested in the railways and trains of Scotland. It not only consists of the wiki that you're reading now, but a busy online forum and mailing list, which was accessible to registered users. From April 2024 the forum has closed, with a replacement started on Groups.io.
Small numbers of the Derby-built Class 108 DMUs were based in Scotland in the mid 1960s and again in the late 1980s.

Early-build class 108s originally had a 2-character headcode blind on the cab font (this was plated over in the 1980s), with a destination blind mounted in the roof above the centre window. This was the same cab style as Class 116 & Class 122.

Late-build Class 108s had a 4-character headcode box mounted on the roof above the cab and resembled Class 107 units, but the body profile differed.

The Class 108s often ran in hybrid formations with other types, such as class 101 and class 104
